1. Tabular Alumina Introduction
Tabular alumina is a pure sintered alpha-alumina material that has been fully densified by rapid-sintering without the use of sintering aids at temperatures in excess of 1800°C. High-alumina refractories are used in the metal and glass industries in boiler installations, in large furnaces and kilns for smelting metals and firing glass, pottery and porcelain, and in the manufacture of building bricks.

3. Tabular Alumina General Advantages
Chemical purity
Chemical inertness
High density
Low water absorption
Extreme hardness
High thermal conductivity
Good resistance to thermal and mechanical shock
High heat capacity
High electrical resistivity
4. Tabular Alumina Characteristics
The different processes for WFA and tabular alumina production (fusion vs. sinter) certainly create differences between the aggregate, which also have an impact on the properties and performance of the corundum brick. Tabular alumina is well received and extensively used in the refractories for steelmaking such as slide gate plate, Al2O3-MgOC brick, castables and pre-cast shapes.
5. Tabular Alumina Applications
1. Tabular Alumina is the aggregate of choice in unshaped and shaped high performance refractories.
2. It is used in a variety of industries such as steel, foundry, cement, petrochemical, ceramic and waste incineration.
3. Other common applications include its use in electrical insulators, kiln furniture and as a catalyst support.
4. Ground Tabular is an excellent product to be used as a filler in epoxy or resin systems, where high dielectric strength, thermal conductivity or abrasion resistance is desired.
